While growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Michelle was an avid equestrian. The calmness she found riding horses in the open spaces of New Mexico is what she finds on her yoga mat and it is that peace she hopes to share with her students. Students of all ability levels often say that Michelle's soft-spoken manner and gentle guidance allows them to feel welcome in her class.
Michelle began practicing yoga in 2000, and since her daughter was born in 1998, she had not yet discovered how yoga would enhance her pregnancy. So when her son came in 2003, Michelle knew that she wanted to share this with other women. Watching the grace of the pregnant women in her classes has given her more peace in her own practice and teachings as well. Many of the mothers from Michelle's prenatal classes return for her postnatal classes for mothers and babies.
Michelle loves helping mothers connect with their babies through yoga, and she loves watching babies and children respond to its soothing calm and peace. She wanted to expand her ability to assist women in the journey of pregnancy, labor, birth and motherhood so she embarked on education and training as a birth doula. It has been a meaningful and powerful journey for Michelle and she has finally found her passion in assisting women through the full spectrum of well care from pregnancy to recovery in the postpartum period. After working for more than 15 years in the corporate world, Michelle now dedicates herself full-time to supporting women through their pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum recovery by teaching prenatal and postpartum yoga, well care workshops, and by offering birth support.
