Prenatal Teacher Training
with Lara Kohn-Thompson & Beth Donnelly-Caban

This Yoga Alliance approved 85-hour Integral Yoga Institute training with Lara & Beth prepares Yoga teachers to work with women at all stages of pregnancy. The specialized prenatal practices help students become aware of the changes of pregnancy and promote strength, relaxation and suppleness.

An in-depth review of the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy and birth lays the foundation for teachers’ understanding of the myriad benefits of Hatha Yoga for pregnancy. They will gain extensive experience with asanas well suited to pregnant women and a thorough acquaintance with contraindications during pregnancy. The training will sensitize teachers to the profound physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual transitions of pregnancy and demonstrate how such techniques as asana, pranayama, deep relaxation, chanting and meditation can be effective ways of coping with these changes.

This training will prepare teachers to teach in a group setting or one-on-one, and they will practice extensive hands-on support in their teaching. Discussions of the energy anatomy of pregnancy and birth will deepen teachers’ knowledge of the Integral Yoga prenatal practice.

This certification training includes 56 contact hours with primary instructors, prenatal class observations, self study and a teaching practicum.

In-class hours are typically:
3 weekends in the Fall October to December
aturdays + Sundays 1-7p, and Mondays 11-6p.
