Kids Yoga Classes

Bend + Bloom kids yoga classes enable kids to indulge in yoga fun while parents and caregivers enjoy their own serene practice in the adjacent studio.  Alternatively, parents and children can practice together through our interactive Family classes.
 

Benefits of B+B Kids Yoga

Yoga is a fun way for kids to cultivate self-esteem and body awareness. By mimicking animals and shapes in nature kids develop strength, flexibility, coordination and an appreciation for our environment.  Classes allow children to imagine and experience the qualities of other beings—the strength of a wise, old tree; the confidence of a lion; the grace of the wind; the speed of the F train! As kids indulge in imaginative yoga play, they learn to focus, cooperate with peers, and to use their breath to find inner calm – tools important for their daily lives.


Tots & Family Yoga Classes

These classes offer a special time for parents or caregivers to connect with their baby or young child and begin to plant the seeds for a lifetime of yoga and wellness together.

+ Postnatal Yoga: Parent & Baby

This class focuses on asana to rejuvenate your body after childbirth. Rebuild strength and soothe the aches of new parenthood while connecting with your newest addition. After 50 minutes of flowing yoga we will focus on bonding with our new babes through infant massage and gentle stretching. Open to all parents and caregivers once you are cleared for gentle exercise. Suggested age for infants is 6 weeks old up to crawlers. Bring an extra baby blanket for your babe to chill on.

+ Play Practice Yoga Babies: Crawlers thru Early Walkers

Stretch, bond, and breathe with your active baby in this special yoga class designed for parents with mobile babies who are not yet walking. Meet other parents while you strengthen and support post-partum, sleep-deprived bodies with specifically chosen asanas and sequences. Every class will devote time for playful yoga activities and simple games to encourage developmental milestones such as rolling, creeping, crawling, and walking. Play Practice Babies incorporates music and song, elements of Brain Gym, American Sign Language, and storytime to support developing verbal and motor skills. Dads and other caregivers welcome!

+ Tots Yoga: Walkers thru 3 + adult

Your babe will celebrate the wonders of mobility, communication, and independent exploration with you in this joyful class. Animated animal poses and imaginative games help toddlers to recognize (and eventually repeat!) patterns and tap their budding creativity. Our tot-centric poses improve motor coordination, cognitive development, and socialization while kids learn about the wonders of their body. For walkers up to 3 and a parent or caregiver.

Wednesday and Friday 10:00am-10:45am

+ Musical Tots Yoga: Walkers thru 4 + adult

In this musical tots yoga class, you and your child will move through yoga poses, explore the breath, sing, and share stories all while being accompanied by the live music of seasoned performers and teachers Cassie Naaktgeboren (vocals, ukulele) and Ryan Pearson (vocals, guitar). We will take a “World Tour” together and visit a new destination each week, letting the music, nature, and stories of cultures from all across the globe inspire our own music making and movement that day.

Monday 10:00am-10:45am

+ Family Yoga: 2.5-6 year olds + adult

A lively yoga class for you and your child. Classes weave age-appropriate poses with imaginative yoga adventures, art, and music. Partner poses and yoga games encourage parents and kids to work together while limbering up their minds and bodies!

Saturday 10:00am-10:45am

$24 one child + one adult, $10 for each additional family member

Mat rentals are included for all Tots + Family classes

Independent Kids Classes

These energetic classes help your child develop strength, coordination, and body awareness to grow up with confidence! Our studio allows kids to indulge in yoga fun while parents and caregivers enjoy their own serene practice in the adjacent studio.

+ Lil Yogis: 3-5 year olds

Bend & Bloom’s imaginative yoga adventures and animated poses keep little yogis’ creativity and bodies flowing. Our silly yoga sequences enhance children’s concentration skills while refining their motor coordination. Bend & Bloom’s fun yoga games teach cooperative play and sharpen listening skills as your child transitions to school. Kids' yoga will plant the seed for a life-long love of physical and mental well-being. Please note: Minimum age of 3 years old. We love your 2-year-olds! Please bring them to our Tots classes.

Tuesday 4:00pm-5:00pm

Adult Hour Flow class runs at the same time.

+ Lil Yogis: 6-8 year olds

Bend & Bloom taps the enthusiasm of 6-8 year olds by integrating joyful yoga with creative self-expression using storytelling, music, and art. Fun-filled yoga sequences develop strength, coordination, and body awareness while balancing poses and safe experimentation with experiencing the world upside down build self-confidence. We introduce playful breathing exercises, creative imagery, and relaxation skills that your child can carry with them into their increasingly busy school and social lives.

Wednesday 4:00pm-5:00pm

Adult Hour Flow class runs at the same time.

+ Tween Yoga: 9–12 year olds

This class continues Bend & Bloom’s signature fun-filled kids yoga while introducing spirited, flowing sequences, increasingly challenging balancing poses, and imaginative relaxation tools to nurture the growing independence of 9-12 year olds. Partner poses and team-building yoga games encourage healthy socialization and body image. Your child will develop strength and self-confidence both on and off the yoga mat!

Thursday 4:00pm-5:00pm

Adult Hour Flow class runs at the same time.

+ Teen Yoga: 13-17 years

This class brings Bend & Bloom’s signature fun-filled yoga to a space just for teens. Spirited, flowing sequences, increasingly challenging balancing poses, arm balances, backbends and inversions (handstands!) will be introduced along with partner poses and community-building yoga games. This one hour class also features breath awareness, meditation and restorative postures to promote self-awareness and relaxation. All teens are welcome to learn and experience these practices for life-long physical and mental well-being!

Wednesday 5:15pm-6:15pm

Privates & Parties

Bend & Bloom offers one-on-one and small group classes for children who can benefit from more personalized attention or who have a therapeutic need. We are also happy to be a part of your child's special occasion! While we do not host parties at the studio, we can help coordinate an off-site yoga class for your event. We do offer private and small semi-private yoga classes for groups of 2-6 kiddos.
